Mark 1:21-28 - Jesus entered the synagogue in Capernaum on the Sabbath and began to teach. There was a man in the synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit, and when he saw Jesus, he cried out, “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”
Jesus rebuked the evil spirit, saying, “Be quiet! Come out of him!” The evil spirit convulsed the man and cried out loudly, but it came out of him. Everyone was amazed at Jesus' authority to command even the evil spirits, and news about Him spread quickly throughout the region.
This miracle demonstrated Jesus' power over demonic forces. His authority was unmatched, and He showed that He came to liberate people from spiritual oppression and evil forces.
By casting out the demon, Jesus proved that He had divine authority over all evil. This act also foreshadowed the ultimate defeat of Satan and His kingdom through Jesus' death and resurrection.
